Cliff Self Catering Cottages are located in the village of Dookinella
on Achill Island, County Mayo, Ireland. Travelling by car from Castlebar
or Westport, follow the road signs for Newport, take the N59 to Mulranny
then follow the R319 towards Keel via Achill Sound. 2 kms before Keel,
turn left at the Crossroads Inn just past the Parish church of Dookinella
and drive towards the beach. |

There
are numerous car hire companies in Ireland therefore rates are competitive
- shop around to get the best deal. Cars can be hired from most city
locations and all airports and ports. Book in advance of travel especially
during summer months and check for terms and conditions of hire. Car
hire companies usually require driving licences from the state of residency
and not international driving licences. In the majority of cases a full
unendorsed licence must have been held for 12 months. Most hire cars
are manual gear change; please specify automatic gear change if required.
Before driving off from the hire company remember to check for dents
and scratches to the vehicle as you are likely to be charged for unrecorded
damage. Check insurance cover before hiring. For those with children

All
traffic drives on the left hand side of the road in both the Republic
and Northern Ireland. Since most airports and ports are outside of population
centres, those coming from countries that drive on the right hand side
of the road will have time to acclimatise to the road layout. Speed
limits for roads are displayed in kilometres per hour and road distances
are given in kilometres. Care should be exercised as many Irish roads
can narrow and have sharp bends. Animals such as sheep and cattle can
appear on roads and slow farm vehicles such as tractors often use main
roads. Seat belt use is compulsory and the use of mobile phones is banned
while driving. It is an offence to drive under the influence of drugs
and alcohol. |
